Where is Safety from Your Trichoillomania?

“Help me I’m trapped on the inside of my face.”
-Chuck Pyle

This quote is from “Inside of my Face,” a song by one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Chuck Pyle, known as “The Zen Cowboy.”

You can check Chuck out at http://www.chuckpyle.com/. He’s brilliant, not to mention being a great singer. From his website, “He is a famed Western singer/songwriter, who is known in theaters and festivals across the country as a virtuoso guitarist with a Will Rogers-like wit, who talks straight about his journey.”

“Help me I’m trapped on the inside of my face” sums up another great Truth with a capital T! Ultimately the only place real safety lies (or doesn’t) is inside your own head. It doesn’t matter what happens outside your mind…your world will be viewed as safe or unsafe based solely on your thoughts. The next time you find yourself in fear, check out who’s really putting that spin on your world.

Trichotillomania Sufferers Are Stuck in a Rut

Just because you go down one path earlier in your life, doesn’t mean that you’re stuck in that rut forever.
-Walter Shaw, author and ex-master burglar.

Wow! This is a great quote, don’t you think?

Trichotillomania and other compulsion sufferers are often so stuck in their repetitive ruts that it appears to them that change and a better life are completely impossible. One of the things that I help them to work on is unsticking their minds so that they can vision a better future for themselves. But, while this is a critical step, it often is not enough to get them to move to that better future.

They also need to the tools and support to do the work of healing the underlying issue that continues to fuel the compulsive behavior. For people with compulsive hair pulling and other compulsive disorders, I offer a comprehensive program that moves them through the self-healing framework.

The program is very powerful, but it alone, is not enough. The student must do the work for their own healing is waiting inside of them to be discovered.

Your Future Without Trichotillomania Looks Bright

“If you are ill and your body and physical symptoms are always seen as the problem, you lose the opportunity to gain insight into deeper personal issues that may be at the root of some symptoms.”
-From Robin Casarjian:

As you begin to see your hair pulling as a gift from which you can grow, the seeds of hope and the promise of a brighter future will take hold and also grow. Begin to see that your hair pulling is not the problem, but a symptom of a larger underlying problem about how your life isn’t working.

Do You WANT To Heal Trichotillomania?

“When I first began my work as a medical intuitive, I thought that people wanted to heal. Now I don’t believe that. I don’t believe that at all. We’re addicted to the power of the wound, to the privilege the wound gives us. We don’t want to be in pain–but we sure don’t want to heal.”
-Caroline Myss, medical intuitive and author

Maybe this cigarette (binge, job, meal, lover, encounter) will finally satiate you. Maybe it will be enough. Once and for all–maybe it really will. So you do it but it never satisfies–it is never enough. Addicts fool themselves into thinking that maybe the next one will do it or the next or the one after that. But it never does and there is no end to the addictive or compulsive behavior. Does any of this sound familiar? [Read the rest of this entry...]

Asking Questions About Your Trichotillomania

“A question works because, unlike a statement which requires you to obey, a question requires you to think. The mind seems to prefer to think, not to obey.”
-Nancy Kline

I am the queen of asking questions. I have “entertained” many people with them. But the person of whom I’ve asked the most questions is myself. Without asking questions I would never have ended my trichotillomania nearly fifteen years ago and would be living with it still.

I can highly recommend questioning yourself on a regular basis. After all, why believe that your previous assumptions will continue to hold true or remain right for you?

Once again, here is another key to self-healing. Question all of your previously unquestioned beliefs and find today’s Truth. By doing so you may just begin to start healing yourself!

Love Letters to Trichotillomania

Last Valentine’s Day (2008), students were asked to acknowledge that they are in a PRIMARY RELATIONSHIP with trichotillomania. For some of us, compulsive hair pulling has been a best friend, a confidant, an unconditionally accepting, 24/7 friend. It’s time to acknowledge the truth of this relationship formally, in writing. Write a love letter to hair pulling and say all the things that you’ve really been feeling. If you’re willing, post your letter here to share with the others. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Are Feelings You’ve Ignored the Cause of Your Trichotillomania?

This is excerpted from my Pull-Free, At Last! System.

“Think you’re just one being; one single person…walking the earth alone?  You are not!  There is a gang inside of you-right inside your own mind.  And much of the time its members roam free and wage war upon the weaker parts of you.  Some parts hold others hostage-torture them to [Read the rest of this entry...]
