Modern-Day Stress and Compulsive Hair Pulling
In these times of worldwide economic difficulties, disaster predictions proliferate. We’re told, “the end of the world” is upon us. Doom and gloom are in the air.
Watch out . . . if you are a trich sufferer this is only adding to your stress. And we all know what more stress means for hair pullers; more piles of hair and eyelashes hitting the floor.
Parents, you may not realize that this stress is also greatly affecting your child. Highly sensitive children (which many hair pullers are) feel the stress of the adults around them and they take it on. At this time of world stress, you may find that your hair pulling child is pulling more or that your child has suddenly begun to hair pull.
The very best thing you can do for yourself or your hair pulling child is to make a safe space for feelings to be fully expressed. Parents, you will want to be sure that you are doing a good job of dealing with your own stressful feelings so that your highly-sensitive child doesn’t have to.

I let stress rule my life and I also suffer from social anxiety. I basically have become a hermit at home. I have a lot to offer, but, I get shortness of breath and start to hyperventilate when I get in groups of people and it puts a pamper on meeting women. Has anyone had any luck with any of the meds that are out these days. I just want to take the edge off not become a zombie or stop being me..

Because trauma underlies trichotillomania, there is no medication that has been proven to be helpful long-term for compulsive hair pulling. Hair pulling is both caused by anxiety and also causes more anxiety in the sufferer.
I have found that anxiety is caused by not acknowledging and finishing one’s feelings. Within my online TrichotillomaniaFree Women’s University (a totally holistic program), students’ anxiety levels have quickly decreased 75-80% when students follow my lessons and consistently work on healing.
I’m guessing that you are male and therefore cannot join my online women’s university, but I have other options for you, so please do call our office during weekday business hours so we can tell you about all the choices available for you.
